For those who skipped the introduction; we always work with first class exclusive small lodges/camps and OPEN JEEPS for safari with experienced LOCAL guides. This will make a huge difference for your safari versus minibus and guide from a big city. You will see so much more wildlife as these guides are in that wildlife area every day and know the habits of the animals. But also the bush experience and wildlife experience from an open jeep is so much more intense! To experience a lion’s vibrato without windows in between, or the bark of a baboon when it spots a predator…To smell the bush and enjoy the breeze in the shadow of the roof of an open jeep is so much more enjoyable and less hot on game drive! its also much easier to make good pictures from an open jeep. At sunset whilst enjoying nature and game drive sundowners in the bush…or afterwards at a log fire before diner enjoying a magical starry African sky!
Because the roads often are in bad condition and the distances vast, we often offer fly in safari, where you fly from small airstrip to airstrip in the bush. Not only will you save a lot of time on travel but its so much more relaxed. You make a beautiful flight over thee bush (often not more than an hour), your jeep awaits you at the airstrip and you make your first game drive to the lodge/camp, or if you wish we can pick you with a packed lunch and you go for a longer game drive upon arrival and a bush lunch! So much more enjoyable than a long drive on bad roads to arrive ‘shaken and stirred’ at the end the day. We can gladly also arrange ground transfers but they are not necessarily cheaper as a scheduled flight as the driver needs to overnight for his drive back, But mostly the advantage of going with a local guide is huge as you will see so much more!
Kenya is known for the Maasai Mara, bordering the Serengeti from Tanzania and all its wildlife. But has so many different amazing faces unknown to many, off the beaten tracks. For Maasai mara we often prefer to work with some private conservancies mourned it, that are offering a lot of wildlife but less jeeps. Down below we get back on a few options off the beaten tracks.
UNIQUE to Kenya, which is probably interesting for many people to know, that since the 70's trophy hunt is prohibited by law. If you compare that with the policy in many other countries with hunting conscessions, that could be a reason to choose JUIST for Kenya. Especially for elephant lovers one of the best choices, we can indicate a number of areas where you can meet very relaxed elephants up close. A dream, believe me! But certainly ok for BIG CATS fans.
I would most definitely advise to combine with options off the beaten tracks in Kenya. So many amazing places to visit…Matthws range… beautiful mountains and rain forests. Voor birders a dream, meeting elephants on foot, natural pools for swimming. Or the vastness of Namunyak, the rocks, the peace, solitude. Or a foot safari looking for rhino off the beaten tracks in Northern territories. A DREAM. Maybe an idea to combine your luxury safari with a part where you go on foot/camel safari. We can gladly sent you some examples safari’s;
Do let us know if you have special interests, if this is a first safari and if you have a certain budget in mind.
Everything is arranged into the smallest detail. All you need to to on location, is enjoy nature, relax and tell your guide/manager how you like to spent your day and they will arrange. Unusually you go on morning and late afternoon game drive and you spent the warm hours around noon in the lodge for lunch and relaxation. however full day game drives are also possible on many locations, where you go with packed lunch. It is nice to relax in the lodge when it gets hot, but its can also be rewarding to go out over the hottest time of the day to see species that will usually only hunt during the hottest hours- like for instance the cheetah.
Kenya is a perfect choice if you wish to bring your family and kids. Most lodges and camps offer family units with separate bedrooms but joint living- we can also offer all private houses with private staff. Kenya is really flexible with kids and everyone really wants to make sure thy have a good time, so the parents can also relax. We can advise you what activities work for what age and regarding length of safari- and make sure there is enough variety on activities etc. Fishing, mountain biking, quad biking, camel safari’, swimming (in natural wells) a day out with Maasai or Samburu warriors. Kenya has amazing beaches and private islands (we work predominantly with the very south of Kenyan beaches and island bordering tanzania) or Zanzibar and from your safari location there are good options for direct flights from the bush straight to a small airstrip on the coast.
